Thanks but no Thanks!

The car parks are empty. No soul seen walking on Lane Avenue. Restaurants are closed down. Even Donatos and Taco Bell that are opened all night have their closed sign upfront. Nope, no terrorist threats announced...This is the scene on campus on Thanks Giving day. I was horrified to see this in my freshman year. I didn't even know where I would go to eat! BUT I didn't had worry about it because Ashley had invited me to her house for thanks giving dinner at Cincinnati. It remains one of my best experiences since coming to OSU. I got to see an American family enjoying their Thanks giving dinner and I was part of it! Forward 2 years, and Ashley invited me again, more like I asked her if I could come! But this time she was having thanks giving dinner at her Aunt's place in Dublin, OH. And, again it was an good experience. I was amazed how organized the dinner was. Sooo many family members gathered at that house and soooo much food cooked, and ofcourse "the bird" coming out of the oven with a celebration.
My camera battery died, so I couldn't take many pictures, but I managed to take this one, my name nicely decorated and kept on the dinner table- guiding me where I am suppose to sit and yeah the bubbly champaign!
There was this confusion however; Ashley told me we had to leave by 5, because she had work at 6. I asked her, if it was Thanks giving 'Dinner' how would we manage to leave without relishing on the food? She said, the dinner is at 3:30 - 4 pm so it won't be a problem. Then it struck me- Americans eat their 'Dinner' at 4. That really is weird for me, when many a times it can be my first meal of the day! GOSH! thats early! One last thing I have to say about the thanks giving dinner; I find the turkey horrible in taste. It is absolutely bland. I had a hard time finishing it....I mean seriously, Americans and europeans need to learn how to use spices. Didn't the Europeans come to India for spices in the first place? What happened to that....your shipment was lost midway in Africa or something? haha....sorry, that really is a bad joke...even worse to be mentioned in Ankit's joke book! But I say this because Ankit, me and Emily finally went to Ethopean restaurant today that we had been planning since weeks now. And the food was really delicious. Absolutely loved it and highly recommend it.

A lot happened between that thanks giving dinner and the sunday dinner. We went shopping on 'Black friday' and I managed to get wireless router for $3.00 only!!! Movies, Sleeping, Ankit's mom's cooked food, movies, sleeping, food, talking, sleeping and the cycle went on!
I wish I could write what me and Ankit talked about but that would really take hours and most of it is sooo random that it would 'read' stupid but thats what the fun is when we talk- absolutly random!
And among all this I didn't get time to study as I had planned to.....and now I feel bad about my self for not even looking at my books :( thats y the no thanks in the title for the Thanks giving break! Oh well....Hope to study hard in the few days left for finals and hopefully I will have a happy ending to this quarter that I can share!

Harry Potter and Times

This weekend started off with watching the first show of Harry Potter at midnight, but getting in line by 9:30! Still we couldn't make it in the first 200 people or we could have got free poster and better seats! but it was fun anyways. I remember the last premier show of Harry Potter in my freshman year on Ankit's b'day, and here I was, same place, same movie- Harry Potter, just 2 years past. I even remembered the T-shirt I had worn the last time- Banana Republic (the only one I have) and so I wore the same this time!! only that it was under my jacket and sweater (It was almost freezing.) It always amazes me how time is flying so fast!!

Neil, Aaron, Mickey, Ankit and me in the line.

Me with Moody Eye and Hagrid!

Us in the Theatre Finally! and Ankit waiting anxiously for the Super Man Trailer which they never showed!

N e ways I thought the movie was alrite, that is in relative terms to other HP movies. It was no where close to the book (Goblet of Fire is my favorate among the 6.)

This Saturday was the ISA Diwali show. And I went to see it with Nicole, Kavita and Emily. I was joking with Nicole that some indian guys at the show will be jealous to see me with 3 girls that too 2 of them white! Ha! At times, I was the translater for Nicole and Emily about whats happening, hopefully they enjoyed! The show was boring except for parag's dance. We only got excited when Ankit came on stage for Param Band....which I think is really pathetic on stage! I always tell Ankit he doesn't fit in there with them! But none the less, he enjoys playing his guitar. And at the show, Radhika alone complimented me atleast 10 times about how good I looked! Other than her, Sonal and Deepa complimented me too. Thank you girls!
I think Me and Radhika can send some models a run for their money!

Later that night Ankit and me went to get Milk Shake from 'Steak 'n' Shake at 2:30 in the morning.....But ofcourse we forgot, we had the Michigan game that day and we won! yay for that, but High street was crowded and we ended up waiting 30 mins for a seat, we just went to UDF and got our milk shakes and then went to my place where we just talked. Like always, we jumped from topic to topic and before we even knew....It was 5 am!!! I tell you some one really needs to pull those reins on time!

Sunday was sleeping all day long!!! and preparing for next week and Thanks Giving Break!!

Creation of a Curly Blog!

So finally I am creating a blog after seeing many of my friends' and they suggesting me that I should have one too. But what probably tempted me to create this blog was seeing the visitor log on Ankit's blog where you can see where the people are visiting your blog from. It is the coolest thing ever!!
And ofcourse, my friends in India will know what I am upto here and I can share my jokes with them too....something I miss at times.

I was thinking for a while before I gave a name to this blog. I wanted something that people recognize me with- curly hair ofcourse, ha! Then the name should go with what the blog is about too...and this blog is about some of my thoughts that just come to me while I am walking, lying on bed thinking about nothing, during shower. Many of them are ideas that I get. Many jokes I come up with are these thoughts that come to me in an instant, I don't work on them, or research them.....they just are planted in my head. Many of my MC ideas were those ideas when I was MCing for Srujan. Some of the poetries that I write (Yes, I can write poetry!) have come to me like that!! unfortunately the name for this blog didn't hit me :( I had to work on it! I hope you guys enjoy this blog!
